{"id":4394776,"date":"2025-06-18T09:45:01","date_gmt":"2025-06-18T09:45:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/myweburls.com\/judy\/?p=4394776"},"modified":"2025-06-18T10:11:20","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T10:11:20","slug":"moving-checklist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/myweburls.com\/judy\/moving-checklist\/","title":{"rendered":"Moving Checklist"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Moving can be such a stressful undertaking that we often get distracted and forget to do the little things like forward our mail or change our driver&#8217;s license address.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some helpful reminder checklist of things you may want to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Household Reminders<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Disconnect and settle accounts with utilities, cable and phone services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Order utilities to be connected at new home.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cancel any pre-authorized bill payments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have your mail forwarded to your new address.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stop or forward all home deliveries, newspapers and magazines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Start reviewing what is worth taking and what is not. Now is the best time to clear out those closets and start anew.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Packing and Moving<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make special arrangements for the moving of pets or plants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare a list of all items you want to carry to your new home (such as jewelry and other personal valuables).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pick up all personal items at local businesses (dry cleaning, film, storage).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Service all appliances for the trip.<br>All gas appliances must be emptied. It is illegal for movers to carry flammable liquids.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify with your moving company the date, time of arrival and method of payment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take inventory of all items you are moving.<br>Get some cash for travelling expenses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Service your car thoroughly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Let a close friend or family member know your travel route and schedule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Friends and Community<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Investigate how to transfer your children to their new school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Send change of address notices to friends, family, and work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collect items you have lent to friends.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Return everything you have borrowed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Records and Licenses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Obtain or transfer all medical and dental records.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill all prescriptions before leaving.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Change the address on your driver&#8217;s license.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Change all billing addresses for credit cards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Order checks with your new address.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Change address or transfer banking accounts and safety deposit boxes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leave a record of any security system codes for the new owners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Insurance and Legal Stuff<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit your lawyer. Sign all necessary papers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transfer insurance to your new home, or obtain new insurance. Notify your insurance company well in advance of the move and ask to have your policy reviewed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure your mover&#8217;s insurance policies are adequate.
